A Professional Manager and Business Economist during 1970-2002 in Commercial Banking, Coal Mining, Development Banking, Investment Management and Investment Banking Companies. Born in Calcutta (Kolkata), Alum of University of Calcutta (M.A. Economics), Indian Statistical Institute (Ph.D.)and Harvard Business School(ISMP), comprehensively enjoyed executive life: 11 years in Kolkata (United Bank of India and Coal India), next 18 years in Mumbai (Industrial Development Bank of India and Unit Trust of India),and finally 2 years in Kolkata as Chairman and Managing Director of Industrial Investment Bank of India. Since 2002 enjoying lively association as Independent Non-exccutive Director of companies (currently with ITC Ltd, Mahanagar Gas Ltd, Dhunseri Petrochem & Tea Ltd, Gujarat NRE Coke Ltd, SREI Venture Capital Ltd, Sumedha Fiscal Ltd and Himadri Chemicals & Industries Ltd. Interests: economics/ economists, globalisation, uncertainty and risk, financial markets, Stochastic Destiny Principle, cosmology, Individual liberty and freedom, and love.
